Maritime College’s Spring Fling was “Smooth Sailing”!

On Saturday, April 1st, 2023, WiredUP Designs, LLC, in collaboration with Mobile Stage Network, provided a tour-grade lighting package as well as one of our talented lighting designers for SUNY Maritime College's annual Spring Fling event!

One of WiredUP’s Professional Lighting Designers, Stanley Karwacki handled the leg-work for the event. Using a GrandMA2 console, Stanley was able to create numerous effects and programs that enhanced the visual appeal of the entire performance. Being that the performing band was playing oldies hits, the lighting had to match the theme. “I went for a pretty standard band lighting design, but added some cool effects and a front wash”, said Stan in a statement. “The effects were created to simply compliment the music the band was playing, and I think it turned out quite well”.

In addition to programming and busking lighting for the show (Busking: doing it live and not pre-programmed), Stan also had the responsibility of curating the rig used for the show. All-in-all, there were 10 moving fixtures, and 6 wash fixtures. The rig included 8 Elation Platinum Spot 5R Pro’s, 2 Elation ACL360 Matrix’s, and 6 ADJ EXR 5P HEX Static Wash fixtures for the front wash, simply because of their water-resistance in this situation.

The client mentioned to us that “The stage was absolutely amazing, in terms of presentation, size, and sound it was all perfect”, and we honestly could not agree more.

A huge thank you to everyone involved for their support and assistance, especially that of the Mobile Stage Network team, the SUNY Maritime crew and anyone else I may have missed. We hope to see you next year!
