Lighting Upgrades for a Local Sports Bar… A true Home Run!

In April of 2023, WiredUP integration professionals were contacted by Farmingdale based Sports Bar “The Main Event”, which in its past life was “Kodiak’s" Restaurant and Bar”, a family friendly sports bar. When Kodiak’s closed in 2013, the previous owners simply “up and left”, leaving all of their electronics, lights and audio equipment in place. The new owners, of now called “The Main Event”, wanted to bring these old products back to life in a new way.

WiredUP’s lighting designers went to work designing a plot that would be comfortable yet exciting for guests, and easy to use for employees and managers. But, at the same time, had to have a wow factor. Once we received approval from the owners of the venue, items were ordered and an installation date was set.

Installers went to work removing non-functioning old equipment and cables, that also caused a safety concern for being in close proximity to fire sprinkler pipes. Within a few hours, the old equipment was removed and stringing the new lines for the new system had begun. The client opted to keep costs lower, but still got a really great product. New lighting installed consisted of Chauvet Spot 260X LED Moving head lights, along with a Microsoft Surface Pro tablet running Chauvet ShowXpress to control the entire system.

The client opted to leave a few of their existing systems, including their Martin MAC300 Wash fixtures, and ColorKinetics PDS-150e systems. Both pre-existing systems were modernized to be controlled via the newly installed lighting network.

On the sound side, the client began to notice that their existing setup was no longer “with the times”. They expressed to us that there were three completely separate sound systems in the building. One of which is completely decommissioned. The other two — however — remain in place, and are used for different purposes. WiredUP’s highly skilled sound designers explained to the owners that removal of the old non-functioning sound system would not only be more pleasing to the eye, but that one of the systems in there was smaller and even more adequate. The ownership agreed, and subsequently requested a quote to simplify and enhance the sound system.

When that happens, we’ll update you. I’d like to thank the WiredUP staff involved on this project for their hard work and dedication, and for giving up your bed and working an overnight shift to get this done overnight.
