Is a Lighting add-on package really worth it?

The roots of WiredUP’s founding members is a background in Pro Audio and Stage Lighting. A huge part of what we offer is add-on lighting services for parties, or full stage lighting packages and rentals for performances. But in terms of parties — is a bigger, more extravagant lighting package really worth the higher price?

Like a lot of our blog posts, the answer really depends! All of our DJ packages include basic effect lights. These lights are true to their name, they provide basic effects that change color with the music. From there, you can opt to add on our full-room uplighting package, which can really transform a room from “nice” to “woah”.

But wait — there’s more! Because of our roots in stage lighting, WiredUP stocks many other add-on lighting items. Our most popular add-on is Intelligent Moving Lights. These are highly advanced lights that are placed on top of truss totems. These lights are equipped with multiple internal motors allowing them to move side to side and up and down. Some of these lights also have no limits, and can spin infinitely, which can create some really cool effects.

While we could talk all day about the variations that these lights are available in, the three main types are Spot, Beam and Wash. Spot’s are the most popular option, and are exactly that. They are spot-style lights that also have different pattern filters and can change color. Beam lights are similar to spots, but beams project a significantly smaller sized light from the fixture. This can be an especially great choice if you had planned on having some sort of atmospheric effect such as fog or haze. Finally, you can think of a wash light as a flood light. There is no specific one place that the light is focused on, but rather emits a wide spread of light.

For Wedding’s, Sweet Sixteens and Corporate events, we recommend Spot Intelligent Lights. This is the most popular option and can definitely enhance a party significantly.

Of course, you can opt for more than one type of fixture! Especially in the realm of Professional Stage Lighting, many different fixture types are used to create different stunning effects for you and your guests.

We typically tell prospective clients that the Intelligent Lights add a wow-factor, as these lights can move like “Hollywood Spotlights'“ during your introductions, project patterns, hearts, and different colors of course.
