You’ll want to read this if planning your event is getting overwhelming.

WiredUP is a contradiction. Here’s why. Obviously, we want you, the client, to choose WiredUP Designs as your Wedding DJ. But, as the consumer, you have a choice to take your business elsewhere if you so choose to. The least that we can do to help is make sure you’re getting service that meets your expectations. We want your event to go over smoothly and professionally, no matter who the DJ is. We hope you find this helpful. Don't let the DJ be the one thing that ruins your only special day - there’s only one first time. Whether this is your first wedding, or a proceeding, we want your day to be as special as possible. What should you be looking for in a Wedding DJ?

Price is usually a customers biggest deciding factor. Why would you, a consumer, spend $5000 on say, WiredUP’s high end package, or similar, when you found a Wedding DJ on Facebook for $200 that offers the same thing? You have to remember the old saying - if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Most DJ’s offering a $200 Wedding DJ service can’t be trusted. You’re putting trust into whomever you hire to show up on time and provide the services you requested without a hitch. Would you spend $15 on a “high end steak dinner at a chain restaurant, or spend $50 on a real high end steak dinner at a steakhouse?. When you spend $200 on a DJ, do you know who you’re inviting to your Wedding? Did they show you pictures of THEIR events? If they did, reverse search the image to make sure it’s really them. You can do this for free on Google Images. Is this DJ willing to meet with you before your event to discuss details? Are they allowing your guests to make song requests? Does their sound system sound good? Or is it a $50 Costco speaker?

Social Media - check their social media outlets. When was the last time they posted something. Did they use correct punctuation and spell out words correctly? Texting language is usually a tell-tale sign of a lazy DJ or Emcee. You want your Emcee to be able to speak properly - make sure they know the language of your event well. If you’re having a multi-lingual event, make sure they know both languages as well. What content do they have on their social media pages? Is it reputable and real content?

Contact Information - How are you contacting this DJ? Are you messaging on Instagram, Facebook or WhatsApp? This is usually a sign that the business isn’t established very well. When you contact a DJ company via social media, they should ask you to contact them via E-Mail, or to call them. Messaging apps are not a reliable and secure way of doing business. Better yet, take a look at the DJ’s email address. Is it a Gmail address? Yahoo? If it’s their own website server, look at their website, too. (Example: [name]@wiredupny.com would be a great example of a true professional company. Wiredupny@gmail.com would seem shady to some.)

Payment information - Is this DJ asking for a credit card upfront? Are they requesting to do payment via CashApp, Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle? While most companies do offer this method as well, you should not be paying 100% of the service cost upfront. We’re going to say that again. You should not be paying 100% of the service cost upfront. Most reputable DJ companies require only a down payment before the event. Sometimes they allow you to pay for most of the event upfront, but require that the balance be paid once they show up. Surprisingly, this benefits both parties. It protects us, the company, from fraudulent payment activity, and it protects you, the client from loosing all of your money to a DJ that never showed up to your event. Circle back to the top of this page. Why didn’t they show up? Did you just loose $200 on a “Wedding DJ”?

What is this DJ providing, exactly? - Did this DJ give you an exact breakdown of what was included for the price you’re paying? Okay, granted. Maybe it’s a little more than $200. We’re being slightly dramatic. Most reputable DJ companies provide a breakdown of exactly what they're bringing to your event, how many people, and what services they should be providing. They also introduce the entire team that is working your event, from the DJ & Emcee, down to the roadies, because why would you want strangers at your special day.

In closing - This is not just for Weddings - this is for any type of event. Nowhere in the article above did it say “At WiredUP we do this, or we’re better because of this…”,  besides giving you an example of where a website would be hidden in an email, because we genuinely care about your event. Of course we would love to be part of your special day, but it’s ultimately up to you, and we just want you to be sure of what you’re doing. We wish you happy planning and happily ever after. Now, get out there and plan!
